My latest project {baby quilts for TWINS!}

Not too long ago, a facebook friend had commented about wanting to have a unique theme for her unborn twins' room, so I offered to make her custom quilts...after some back and forth about the design, we selected fabric, and I started sewing...

I should add that sewing with two children can sometimes pose to be a challenge. I am so thankful that whenever possible my hubby gives me a chance to focus. I try to break the project into small sections (cutting, applique, borders, pinning, quilting, etc.)

The first quilt has a silhouette applique of Tom Sawyer & Huck Finn on a raft. I added some detailed "freehand" quilting so the silhouette didn't just look like a huge grey blob. I also quilted a leaf design-from a method I pinned on Pinterest.

The second quilt is a silhouette of a boy fishing. I added some grass, tree branches/leaves, and water ripples so the silhouette didn't appear to be floating in space.

I hope the new owners of these quilts love them until they are just some tattered threads.

The backing fabric is from Michael Miller's Indigo Red line. The small blue border was from my stash (probably a Moda Marble?) and the quilt tops were a plain cotton (one from fabric.com and one from JoAnn Fabrics.) The greys are Quilter's Linen in Gray (top) and Mottled Gray (bottom).
