My husband actually was camping with my father, uncle, cousin & father in law at Gettysburg. Of course when I mention "camping" you would be correct in assuming it rained cats & dogs while they were there. I've never been so thankful to have missed a camping trip. You see, something you might not know about me: I was a girl scout from age 5 to age 18. That's a looooong time. I've had my share of camping trips, and I am perfectly fine skipping the tent and staying in a hotel. It's just easier. But, I will say, the menfolk had fun. They came home smiling and had lots of stories to tell. They are hoping to make it an annual trip.
So, back to me: it was so nice to have my mom visit. She hadn't seen my new house that we've been in for almost a year. It was great to have an extra hand, my son even seemed to prefer to have HER help him on the potty. She even saved the day and was able to watch my son while I attended my photography class and my husband got stuck working late. And best of all, before she left she even cleaned my refrigerator. Now that's love!
Of course since my husband was away, a huge tree in our yard blew over in the wind. Thankfully, it fell away from the house (my sister in law's car) and instead covered the road. A nice neighbor even rescued the entire neighborhood with a chainsaw--and my 36 week pregnant self and mom helped move ALL of the branches and logs and debris from the road in a HUGE, freezing cold, downpour. Something I learned back when my husband was in the Army: things like that ONLY happen when your husband is away!
I will add, the one casualty of the storm {aside from the tree} was my iPhone4. It is currently on convalescent leave in a container of rice. I'm hoping and praying once it is solidly dried out, that it might have some life left in it. Otherwise, I'm really praying our insurance will cover it. We'll see.
My creative self has been MIA, and I'm hoping will return very soon. I did make a new cover for my camera strap, although without the iPhone, I have no way of photographing....
I am hoping to revive my greenish thumb. I purchased some seeds and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I might be able to make something grow. Only time will tell...
