Yesterday, I shared a special crossfit onesie I made for a friend. She asked me to make another one using a different picture. Isn't that cool??

I made these both using iron on vinyl cut with my Silhouette machine + the Silhouette software.

More Quick + Easy Baby Gift Ideas

I've got a ton of projects I've been meaning to share. One of my favorites is this outfit I put together for my longtime friend's new baby, Julia. {You'll see I pulled together a variety of items, but we'll start here.} 

Julia ended up giving her mom a run for the money, flipping up and down, and every which way up until the day she was born. I dubbed her the party girl, since she was moving around like popcorn in her mom's belly....as soon as I saw these pants I knew they were perfect for Julia...the party girl. 

Once they were certain of the name. I went crazy personalizing whatever I could get my hands on. 

The iron on's are probably the easiest item...formatted on the computer, cut with the Silhouette machine, and ironed on. {EASY!}

Quick + Easy Baby Gift {Silhouette Iron On}

One of my favorite go to gifts for a new baby is a simple personalized onesie. I usually do this either with iron on vinyl or paint, but always using my silhouette machine...either directly cutting the iron on vinyl or cutting a stencil out of freezer paper and using fabric paint directly on the onesie.

This is an organic onesie from Walmart, and I included a matching pair of pants. The lime green iron on was cut with the font American Typewriter.

Cute, right? It's hard to imagine this only takes a few minutes to make!

On the mend {and an easy Silhouette project}

Yesterday afternoon I was able to take my son into the Pediatrician who discovered a double ear infection AND wheezy breathing. Nothing a little Tylenol, Motrin, Amoxicillin, & breathing treatments can't solve! {With the help of some tissues, TLC, and leftover Valentine's Day candy-yay bribery!}

After a LONG night's sleep, today is a new day, and my little man seems like he's on the mend. Thankfully he is feeling better, and hopefully the medicine is working it's magic. His illness has led to my husband feeling sick, and now I'm feeling sick too. A weekend of a little one not feeling well, has led to a house of complete disarray. I'm in the process of finishing the laundry (yay, only one last load to fold!) but so much more needs to be done because I feel like my entire house needs to be disinfected. Do you feel that way after illness?

My nightstand now looks like THIS: 

On a much craftier note, my sewing room has been slightly abandoned with this illness, so I'll show you something I worked on at the end of last week and finally put together...

I ordered myself some Silhouette products for my birthday, and couldn't wait to give them a try.

Using the Silhouette software I used a photo of my son to create this silhouette on a vase using the provided software. (If you're interested in how to do this yourself, leave a comment!)

(These pictures don't do it justice, it's much more subtle in real life. I took these pictures in the dark, so...sorry...)

I also labelled these silhouette pictures I made a while back. I'm not in love with these, but for now, we'll keep them.

Burlap & Silhouettes...two of life's greatest things

There is just something about burlap and silhouettes that go so perfectly together. And really, burlap stinks. Literally. It smells horrible, like chemicals or something BAD (am I the only one that notices that?) but the texture. It's just unbeatable!

And silhouettes, I just love them. So simple & basic. Beautiful. I've seen a variety of ideas of silhouettes that I have just loved. So I figured why not combine some burlap with a silhouette....I think it looks pretty darn cute. Now I just need to get a frame for these and decided where to hang them.

How to make a silhouette for yourself:

1. I created these by taking a photo (probably the hardest part!) and then using any old photo editing program, I used Picasa, adjust the contrast so you can easily see the outline you want. Then, print your image to the preferred size. I printed mine in black & white, 5 by 7" but you can figure out what size you'd like to use. 
2. Use a black marker and trace the outline so you can see it easily. 
3. Use a light box or bright window to trace outline again onto freezer paper (the dull size).
4. Cut out the inside portion (the face) throw away the innards unless there are details that you'd like to include. 
5. Iron the freezer paper onto your fabric. I used tan burlap that I had precut to be a little larger than 5x7. 
6. Use spray paint (in the color of your choice) I would imagine paint would/could work too. 
7. Let spray paint dry a few minutes....and remove freezer paper. Ta-Da! A perfect & adorable silhouette.
