Personalized Onesies + Stroller Blankets {Baby Gifts}

I've been on a roll making lots + lots of baby gifts. This one is for my neighbor who had a baby early last month. {A while back I shared the shower gift I made.} I try not to give gifts with a baby's name until the baby is here, and the name is set in stone...just in case. 

One of my favorite, really simple gifts is a personalized onesie, with the baby's name. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut teal iron on vinyl. 

My other favorite is a stroller blanket. Lately I've been loving the mustache fabric for boys.

Baby Shower Gift

My husband's boss is also our neighbor. His wife is about to have a baby...and I love making baby gifts. So I put together a bunch of items for baby, for mom, + for dad.

I used Noodlehead's Divided Basket Pattern to make a basket to store all the baby items.

For Mom, I included Lansinoh Breast Pads (strange to give to your husband's boss's wife??) eos chapstick (my new favorite!) make up remover wipes, note pads, thank you notes, a small notebook that I added stickers saying "sanity saver" because I would forget EVERYTHING after having a baby. For Dad, I included burp rags and a hysterical printout of this image {how not to raise a baby}...and most importantly for baby, I included some flash cards, a temperature gauge rubber ducky for the bath, pacifiers, handmade pacifier straps, pacifier wipes, boogie wipes, baby shoes, newborn diapers + wipes held together in a very simple diaper wrap strap...and a onesie with a silhouette image likeness of a boxer, saying "Mocha's boy" (Mocha is their boxer!) 

Once the baby is born, and they commit to a name, I'll personalize a few things as well...I just love itty-bitty baby things.

Baby Gabriella {Baby Gifts}

I try to do something creative every day...it doesn't happen always, but it usually does. The problem is that in my fury, I don't remember to always take pictures, or sometimes I do remember to take the pictures, but then forget to share them.

A whiiiilllle ago {like off the top of my head, in June} my cousin + his wife welcomed a baby girl. She's already a few months old, but I'm just now sharing the gift I sent to them...

I love all things baby....So I especially love when a new baby is born getting to work with itty bitty onesies.

**This baby is actually number 50 in our family!! There are a LOT of us! 

The trick to these onesies being so easy to make is iron on vinyl. I cut the letters out with my Silhouette machine and just iron the letters on. SO, SO easy. It takes only a couple of minutes. 

I also decided to send along a little stroller blanket (it's basically a narrow blanket about I think 30x40" so it works over a car seat or stroller without dragging on the ground.) These were just fabrics I happened to have in my stash.

And just because baby Gabriella has the cutest hair, I sent along some hair clips. So, so cute. It was the first time I had made girly hair clips.

I love a new baby!

For Tess {Baby Gifts}

One of my longtime college friends/former roommates, gave birth last month right before our household goods were packed up. I was hoping to sew something special, but my machine was in storage. My general rule for packing/unpacking, is that I cannot sew until we are completely unpacked. This move everything seemed to come together fairly quickly. I'm happy to report that I have three, yes: three, sewing machines set up!

So, for baby Tess, I whipped up a few special things:

But I bib just wasn't enough, so I also used iron on transfer on two shirts:

I rolled everything up, the purple underneath is the stroller blanket wrapped in tissue paper:

Never Enough Baby Gifts

As I've mentioned a million times before, life has been crazy. I think I like the craziness...but man I'd love to have a break...like on a warm beach away from SNOW (seriously, it snowed again here!)

I recently pulled together a quick shower gift for my Mom. Her co-worker is having a baby boy, and my mom had requested (a few times, sorry Mom!) that I make something special for this new baby. 

I ended up making: 

This time I pieced together three sections of flannel on one side (I thought the keys were perfect because I was thinking "Key to my Heart" knowing babies always seem to have a key to Momma's heart...) of course it's backed in delicious minky, with bright blue personalization!

More Quick + Easy Baby Gift Ideas

I've got a ton of projects I've been meaning to share. One of my favorites is this outfit I put together for my longtime friend's new baby, Julia. {You'll see I pulled together a variety of items, but we'll start here.} 

Julia ended up giving her mom a run for the money, flipping up and down, and every which way up until the day she was born. I dubbed her the party girl, since she was moving around like popcorn in her mom's belly....as soon as I saw these pants I knew they were perfect for Julia...the party girl. 

Once they were certain of the name. I went crazy personalizing whatever I could get my hands on. 

The iron on's are probably the easiest item...formatted on the computer, cut with the Silhouette machine, and ironed on. {EASY!}

Baby Gifts {Personalized}

A while back, I shared the Baby Life Quilt. I made that amazing quilt for my college roommate's sister who was expecting her first child....well right after Thanksgiving little Norah arrived. Using some of the leftover fabric from the quilt I made a few little things that my friend gave to Norah for Christmas.

More Baby Gifts {stroller blanket & burp clothes}

This past weekend, my family visited my brother and sister in law, so I finally had a chance to give baby Will a gift...

See, part of the issue of my gift giving is that my sister in law & I have perfectly spaced our 4 boys so we can share clothing without overlap....and to say the least, we are blessed with clothes...so blessed with hand me downs that I could probably have enough clothes for quads for a week! It's usually difficult to clothes the drawers because there are so many items! {Thanks Nicole!}

So, thankfully our boys need nothing...but when you see a new, sweet little baby face, it's impossible for your heart NOT to melt. I had to make baby will something special. 

I decided on a stroller blanket: black minkee on one side, and this amazing Michael Miller Where's My Stache? fabric. {For some reason, it was hard to track down, but I managed to have extra if you are looking for a personalized baby boy gift...}

I embroidered on the name in a bright blue fabric:

And made a few burp cloths to match:

*And just for full disclosure, I made three burp cloths, but only took pictures of two, because I'm officially an idiot....I monogrammed Will's initials, but realized a few days later that I had embroidered his big brother's middle name----oops!! Thankfully my SIL is pretty understanding, I gave it to her anyway... I mean it is to wipe up spit after all.

 I wrapped up all the goodies in some colorful tissue paper...and a hand stamped pennant tag, tied with twine. Sweet!

Baby Life Quilt {eat, play, sleep}

Having made quite a few baby quilts already, I'm always eager to make a new/different quilt. I especially love making baby quilts because they generally come together quickly and are much easier to quilt because of their smaller size. 

A while back V&Co shared the pattern to the baby life quilt on the Moda Bakeshop, so when my best friend's sister asked me to make her one, I was excited to get to work. 

Megan doesn't know the gender of her new baby, so she wanted a colorful but neutral design. I love quilts with a solid background, you can never go wrong with the crispness of white. 

Ultimately, Megan felt Riley Blake fabric's Good Life Dots had the colors she was using in the nursery, so it was a perfect backing fabric. The binding fabric is Michael Miller Mini Mikes Tiny Gingham in Teal. The 1" border is strips I cut from a 5" stacker of Riley Blake Good Life fabrics. The solids came from my substantial fabric stash.

The quilting is I guess a loopy paisley pattern, sorry I'm not sure exactly what it is called, but I love the texture and appearance. The outer border is simply straight lines.

For the backing, I used the leftover strips (from the front border) and added them to the backing fabric. Simple, but doesn't it look great?

{I didn't wash the quilt before mailing, so you can see for the label, I traced a round glass with a special fabric marker, and hand embroidered the label...the blue marker will come out once it's washed.}

Isn't this quilt awesome?!

Bibs & Baby Gifts...{Baby Coleman}

I generally pride myself as being punctual and timely with gifts, but sometimes I just drop the ball. 

One of my first college friends, Kate, gave birth to baby Coleman way back in EARLY August. {I'm embarrassed.} I knew exactly what I wanted to make for the little guy, I just didn't have my sh*t together enough to actually start sewing. Sorry Kate. Sorry Coleman. 

Last weekend, I had a reunion with a group of my first college friends in New York City. It was the first time I'd seen Kate and knew I could NOT, not give her a baby gift when I finally saw her in person. 

For baby Coleman's quilt, I went with cozy flannel. So simple, and cute!

I also made Coleman two bibs. Both have velcro closures along the bottom sides, so that Kate can wipe down the bib when food spills....how easy?! (Note to Self: I need to make some of these for my Cole!)

I also made Coleman this bib, I'd seen a bib on Pinterest with this saying and absolutely LOVED it. I also made one of these for my nephew's Christmas gift. Here you can see the velcro open....

I used iron-on vinyl to make the bib wipeable. I made a stencil using freezer paper and my Silhouette machine. Unfortunately, some ink did bleed, but it still looked okay. In the future I might use my embroidery sewing machine for projects like this...oh, the possibilities.

Hopefully Coleman will love this cozy quilt until it's just a thread....
