Back from the dead

Well, I feel like death still. Surprisingly childbirth didn't slow me down much...it's a cold that's really got me down! And to top it off, I managed to share my cold with both my husband and older son. Luckily, the newborn seems fine. This too shall pass, right?!

Since I've been feeling so crummy, I don't have much to share....so I'll show you something I made for my new baby---a little snuggle sack-I've also heard it's called a newborn cocoon.

I wish it was just a little larger, so I could fit inside.

I knit this fairly quickly, and discovered it's basically a giant hat. (How easy, right?!) I'm thinking I'd like to make another one, I just don't know if I've got the time or energy to knit it before this guy is already too big!

Knit Elephant

My need for crafting is exceeding my need for rest, but I'm definitely slowing down and I still have a long way to go...

Knitting is always a good option for me when I'm not feeling like having to hide in my sewing/craft room. I like that I can be "watching" tv or spending time with my son while knitting.

I found this adorable Elephant knitting pattern for FREE through Ravelry.com! It probably did take a few hours and would most likely not be an ideal first knitting pattern. But it's just so cute.

 I absolutely LOVE the little tail! 

I suppose I'm on a little elephant kick. This guy is REALLY cute! Don't you think?!

I will add for those of you with a dirty mind, my husband so kindly pointed out that this looked like something "else" before the ears were added. Get your mind out of the gutter, honey!

I've been KNITTING again....

I shared with you not too long ago the adorable little sweater that I knit for #2. But the little sweater just wasn't enough. I decided to make some knit pants to match. I had the hardest time finding a pattern with the same gauge and look, so I had to tweak a pattern from Tiny Birds.  (Please leave a comment if you are wanting to know my tweaks.)

My thought is, they look HUGE, but hopefully with cloth diapers they'll be perfect!

How cute?! Right??

TGIF

I'm ready for the weekend. I saw the temperature on my car thermometer hit 60 degrees today and now I'm one happy lady. Maybe we'll even be able to go for a hike this weekend!

I finally cleaned off my desk yesterday. That means I've moved the huge pile that was on top of my desk to a pile on my kitchen counter, that will eventually make it's way upstairs to be filed (there has to be a better way!)

Even though it'll be a late May baby, I figure I'll still want to keep it's little head warm (or if nothing else get a few cute pictures!) 

It was so quick and easy that I was able to finish almost the entire thing last weekend on the car ride TO Philadelphia!

Knit-oholic Part 2

So, yesterday I showed you the sweet little sweater that I made. Well, I actually made this little adorable snuggle sack/cacoon for the new baby before I made the sweater....just to get my knitting fingers back in action.

 (Please excuse my model. It's the best I can do until May!) 

I decided to go with a bright green, it's vibrant but I think it will look so sweet next to fresh baby skin.

It is basically just a giant hat. If you are looking for details on how to make one yourself, please leave a comment and I'll be happy to share my tricks with you. (It's REALLY easy!)

I Knit THIS?!

So I've been on a little bit of a knitting frenzy. I suppose it's nice being able to mindlessly stitch away while the tv is on. My sewing machine is upstairs in a spare bedroom (although not for long) and I feel bad ditching out on my husband to sew...

So I decided my new baby should have a little newborn outfit made by me.

I found the free pattern through Ravelry. So many amazing projects & ideas. I honestly didn't know where to start. BUT, this is my first sweater. I honestly can't imagine making anything any bigger...

The FREE pattern by Stockinette was pretty easy to follow, I even got to learn a few new techniques. I'd never used double pointed needles before. I will add that the comments were HUGELY helpful to me, because I had a few points that I had questions... I also had downloaded & printed the PDF version, and there was a small error, but here is the corrected version from the website. 

I started it on Super Bowl Sunday (while the game was on) the perfect way to "watch" the game. Not bad considering I finished it by Tuesday. 

 I added some wooden buttons. Neutral, but sophisticated.

Now to find some pants...
